Punjab to unveil budget 2026-27 tomorrow with Rs5,131 billion outlay

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government will present its budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 tomorrow (June 16), with a total outlay of Rs5,131 billion and estimated expenditures of Rs3,569.6 billion.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the presentation of the budget, which includes significant changes in development spending. The development budget has been reduced from Rs1,450 billion to Rs752 billion and includes a total of 3,560 development projects.

Out of the development allocation, Rs493.25 billion has been set aside for ongoing schemes, while Rs258.75 billion will be used for new projects. Funding includes both local and foreign sources for ongoing and new initiatives.

Major allocations include Rs20 billion for Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital in Lahore and Rs800 million for the Kulsoom Nawaz Cancer Hospital project in Dera Ghazi Khan, which has an estimated total cost of Rs15 billion.

The budget also proposes Rs15.69 billion for the Chief Minister Punjab Laptop Programme, along with funds for various agricultural support schemes including Kisan Card Phase-I and Phase-II, livestock support, and employment-related programs.

Additionally, funds have been allocated for educational and sports infrastructure, including engineering universities, sports complexes, and stadium upgrades across different cities.

Healthcare, urban development, road construction, and public welfare projects have also been included in the development plan for the upcoming fiscal year.
